The site is in beautiful Wensleydale (where the famous cheese has been made for nearly a century) between the River Ure and the market town of Hawes, with river frontage. Brown Moor completes the third of the Club's trio of sites within the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, serving the northern part. Hawes is one of the highest market towns in England (850 feet above sea level) and has immense character. Anyone with a reasonable pair of walking shoes will want to explore further afield, with the beauties of the Dales on the doorstep. The Pennine Way passes close to the site and tracks made in past centuries make it easy to explore on foot.

Area Description:
England is the largest and most populous of the constituent countries of the United Kingdom (the United Kingdom is a nation which was created by the bonding of the four predecessor states). The division dates from the arrival of the Anglo-Saxons in the 5th century. The territory of England has been politically united since the 10th century. However, before the 10th century and after the accession of James VI of Scotland to the throne of England in 1603, it becomes less logical to distinguish Scottish and Welsh from English history since the union of these nations with England.
